Where's your train headed?
It's easy to get on or off a train when the momentum and speed hasn't built up too much. It can take a while to slow a racing train down and get off without pain and injury. When we finally do we may feel that we are completely lost.
You might be thinking huh? what? This is so cryptic. So let me explain...
When you discover something you want it's like having a destination. As you think about it, take actions, dream about it with vivid detail, and take even bigger actions you build momentum and you start to speed toward that desired outcome.
Our mind can be very good at convincing us through-
Comparing ourselves to others- that we need what someone else has. (Nope)
Reciting someone else's philosophy- you won't find your ___fill in the blank___ there. Example: dream job, desired partner, peace and happiness... (Trust your gut even if others think you're nuts)
Living for someone else- mom and dad want me to be a ______. Example: doctor, lawyer, the next general manager of the bug-be-gone family business...(Who's life is it?)
And finally societal pressures- we "should be married by___ and have kids by___." (Who made this sh*t up?)
As we go toward something for the reasons above we may realize as we get closer that it's not what we truly want. This can take us time to get over, especially when we have been headed in the wrong direction for a while.
Thoughts like, "I've gone too far to let this go" or "leave this all behind now, no way" or "I'm too old to make the change." All of these excuses will keep you on the train that isn't going to lead to the destination your heart is calling you too.
If you find yourself headed in the wrong direction, take the time you need to slow down. Grieve for whatever time, energy or money you invested but know that there is more joy, passion, abundance, and fulfillment waiting for you.
Feel whatever you need to feel, this is just part of the process...
Then, search your heart for what it truly wants. When we are lead by love we align the mind in service to the heart. Only get on another train if it's headed in the right direction. Then fire up those engines!!!
You got this!
