28 Mindfulness Practices
When it comes to mindfulness, there are plenty of different practices you can try in order to bring more of it into your life. I wanted to list these 28 out so that you could pick a couple new ones to try. The more we become present with our lives the more power we have to create memorable experiences and actually make the decisions necessary to make the journey fulfilling.
One simple mindfulness practice that you can do every day is to take a few moments for yourself first thing in the morning. Before you start checking your phone or email, sit down and take some deep breaths. Allow yourself to focus on your breath and nothing else. This will help you start your day with a clear mind and focused intentions.
-Spend time in nature is one of the best ways to connect with your surroundings and appreciate the present moment is to spend time in nature.
-Meditation is a great way to focus your attention on the present moment and clear your mind of any distractions. It gets mentioned a lot when it comes to mindfulness and there’s a reason for it- it works. -Yoga is another great way to focus your attention on your breath and body movement.
-Mindful walking can be a great opportunity to focus on your surroundings and pay attention to your breath.
-Body scanning is a mindfulness practice where you focus your attention on each part of your body, from your toes to the top of your head.
-Eating mindfully helps us to really focus on the experience of eating. Pay attention to the taste, texture, and smell of your food. This will help you be more present in the moment and enjoy your meal more fully.
-Progressive muscle relaxation is a practice that involves tensing and relaxing each muscle group in your body, one at a time. This can release built up stress and tension throughout the body. Just be sure not to tense up too tightly that it makes it worse. This should be enjoyable.
-Breath awareness is simply paying attention to your breath and noticing the sensations of inhaling and exhaling.

-Visualization is a great way to focus your attention on a specific goal or intention.
-Journaling can be a great way to process your thoughts and feelings and connect with your innermost thoughts and feelings.
-Spending time with loved ones is a great opportunity to focus on the present moment and appreciate the people in your life. As we really tune into the people around us it’s beautiful to see the magic that unfolds. Deep presence is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other. Just think back to a time when someone was fully present with you, how did that feel?
-Listening to music can be a great way to focus your attention on the present moment and appreciate the beauty of sound. Next time you listen to a song notice all the layers and depth of sound, the different instruments or harmonies.
-Dancing is a great way to let loose, have fun, and be in the moment. When we dance energy flows through the body and there are many benefits besides just the cardio.
-Drawing or painting can be a great way to focus your attention on the present moment and express your creative side. I have really enjoyed drawing vision boards. I find that drawing them and writing up words and phrases helps to activate the conscious and subconscious mind and has worked well to train my brain to look for opportunities to realize the things I have drawn. I am happy to say that I have been able to create and do many of the things I first sketched and you can too!
-Cooking can be a great opportunity to focus on the present moment and create something delicious.
-Exercise is a great way to get in touch with your body and feel your heart rate rise. Notice how strong you feel as you lift weights or use an elliptical.
-Gardening is a great way to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of life. It’s incredible to watch as a seed becomes a strong and sturdy plant. There is something so magical about this form of creation.
-Bird watching isn’t for everyone but I think it’s really neat to watch as a bird builds a nest or flys around, really it can be observing any animal in nature.
-Playing with a pet is a great way to focus on the present moment. Pets are always in the moment and have a beautiful ability to ease our anxiety and connect with our inner child, if we allow it.
-Stargazing is an amazing way to appreciate the Universe and night sky.
-Volunteering is an amazing way to focus on helping others and making a difference in your community. Pick a charity that resonates with your heart and give consistently or your time, resources or money.
-Spending time alone can be a great opportunity to focus on your own thoughts and feelings.
-Reading can be a great way to focus on the present moment and escape into another world. Take this practice up a notch by connecting with a book that brings inspiration to your heart and joy to your spirit.
-Taking a bath is a great way to relax, unwind, and focus on your breath.
-Going for a walk is a great way to get some fresh air and appreciate your surroundings.
-Sitting in silence is one of the most calming ways to let go of the workday, you can even do this for a few moments in your car.
-Doing a puzzle is a great way to focus your attention on a simple task. This allows them mind to be pleasantly occupied and your spirit can speak a bit louder than the mind.
Mindfulness doesn't have to be complicated, in fact the simpler the better. By incorporating some mindfulness practices into your daily life, you can start living a more peaceful life. Give it a try and see how it goes! I bet you'll be surprised by the difference it can make.
